Bratislava Castle

Bratislava Castle

bratislava-castle The Castle of Bratislava is dominating over the city and overlooking the Danube River and is a major sight in Bratislava.

The first time it was mentioned was in AD907, the fortress was for centuries a site, where the St. Stephen Crown and other Crown jewels were guarded round the clock. After the 1811 fire, the castle ruins were restored in the 1950s-1970s and used as an exhibition venue of the Slovak National Museum. The Castle has had a major restoration. From 2009, the distinct four-tower silhouette (upside down table) of the Bratislava Castle appears on the new Slovak Euro coins.
